Marivent Live

The project

The station is not on air yet: this page describes what it will be.

Marivent Live is a permanent window onto a real landscape in Mallorca, accompanied by synthetic music created with artificial intelligence tools. You can follow it closely or leave it on while you work, rest or enjoy the place from afar.

The landscape

The picture comes from a camera installed in front of a real landscape in Mallorca. It shows what is happening there at that moment: the light, the weather and the sea change throughout the day, and the picture changes with them.

It is meant to be a window onto the place, so very little is laid over it. If what you see is ever a recording, the station says so.

How the music is made

All the music is synthetic and made for the station. Part of it consists of works produced in advance with artificial intelligence tools. Another part is created live: a synthesis system builds the sounds, the patterns and their transformations while you listen.

Human direction

Artificial intelligence is part of the creative process: it is used to explore ideas, design instruments and suggest variations. The artistic direction lies with a person, who chooses the timbres, the rules and the intensity of each session, and who listens to and selects every work before it goes on air.

Live or already produced

A live session is created while it is being broadcast. It may start from instruments, rules or motifs prepared beforehand, but it unfolds at that moment.

An already produced work was created earlier and chosen for the station. And a live session that was recorded can be played again: it is then presented as a recording, with its date.

The three musical modes

The station’s music plays in one of three modes, and each one has its own label.

Live creation

“Music generated in real time”

Synthesis and musical construction taking place during the broadcast.

Catalogue works

“A selection of music created with AI”

Synthetic tracks created beforehand with artificial intelligence tools and selected for the station.

Archived session
